LUFC-artikkelit yms.

Sunday Timesissa oikeinkin asiallinen artikkeli seurasta otsikolla:

Blackwell plots promotion on a shoestring

Barely a year ago, the Leeds manager was struggling to field a team. He faces Millwall today believing the club can return to the Premiership

REPORTS of Leeds United’s demise were, it seems, greatly exaggerated. The Yorkshire phoenix is stirring, rising from the ashes of the most spectacular meltdown the game has seen. The resurrection is down to Kevin Blackwell, whose unscheduled baptism of fire in management produced a minor miracle.

Törmäsin mielenkiintoiseen sivustoon - ehkä jo monille ennestään tuttu:

http://leeds-united-life.blogspot.com/

kiinnostavaa tavaraa. Näkemäni huhtikuiset U18- ja ressupelit asettuvat
perspektiiviin kun lukee tuota juttua. Joka tapauksessa hieno homma, että
meillä taas tulossa "hyvää vuosikertaa" junnuista, elinehto nykyrealiteeteillä...

BBC tarjoilee pienen asiallisen jutun Blackwellin projektista:

Leeds progress delights Blackwell

Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell insists his team are ahead of schedule as they plot their return to the Premiership.

"I would say we are ahead of where I expected us to be," said Blackwell. "I thought last season would definitely be about not getting relegated.

"Then this season would be about trying to get halfway up the table with a push for promotion in year three.

"Then the chairman Ken Bates came here in January and changed the whole dynamic and focus of the club."

The Times kirjoittaa arvostavaan sävyyn Blackwellistä:

Cross Blackwell in a pickle over future at Leeds

IF KEVIN BLACKWELL loses his job as the manager of Leeds United it would be an act of ingratitude to rank alongside the Bible’s 5,000 asking if there was any butter to go with their bread. With debt reduced by £100 million and more than 100 transfer and loan deals completed in 15 months, the club that sacrificed itself on the altar of vanity and greed is sixth in the Coca-Cola Championship. Little wonder that Blackwell is angry at whispers that claim he will soon be replaced by Dennis Wise.

Incredibly, Blackwell says Leeds could be debt-free next season, when four former managers and six former players will have been paid off. The club may also be in the Barclays Premiership by then. It is only 3½ years since they played in a European Cup semi-final, but the club have been to Hell and back, via Crewe and Rochdale, in the interim.

A few weeks after joining the Leeds backroom, Blackwell produced a report called The State Of Play — LUFC. It was only September but it named and shamed certain players and concluded that Leeds would be relegated that season. “It’d be dangerous if it got in the wrong hands,” he said. “But the cliff was coming and we were hurtling towards it.”

KB:llä on pointti tossa jutussa.
KB on ansainnut viime kauden kriisimanageroinnillaan tilaisuuden yrittää nousua.

Näyttää siltä että viime/toissa viikon huhut herra Wisen siirtymisestä Leeds peräsimeen ovat vaikuttaneet pelkästään positiivisesti joukkueen esityksiin. Usein näin käy, jos taitava manageri osaa kääntää asian (huhut) positiiviseksi energiaksi.
KB aikoo tehdä homman Don Revien menetelmillä, jossa kärsivällisyys on yksi monista hyveistä. I love it.

- seuran 3. parhaiten palkattu pelaaja on Jermaine Wright  Angry

Artikkelin kynäillyt toimittaja Mikko Kuronen - Crystal Palacen mies - on herättänyt muutamaan otteeseen närää suomalaisten ManU-fanien riveissä. Kirjoittaa kuulemma niin anti-ManU -sävyyn. Emmekös me kaikki? Grin

Lehtijutut senkun jatkuvat - lauantain (4.3.) Guardianissa on asialinjainen Batesin haastattelu:

How saviour Bates made most of local nationalism

Chairman's revolution at Elland Road means Leeds could be facing his former club Chelsea next season

Päivän The Times kirjoittaa Gary Sprakesta, teemana Revien aikaisen Leedsin (ja yleensäkin futiksen) lahjukset...

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,27-2071725,00.html

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY football’s bung-busters are doomed to failure, consider the tale of Gary Sprake. Thirty-five years ago he was a talented, oft-maligned goalkeeper for Leeds United. He turned informer and some of his team-mates have never spoken to him since. Even his best man washed his hands of the whistle-blower. The truth hurts.

Kappas perhanaa! Luin lehden paluulennolla Lontoosta ja mielestäni kannesta kanteen. Mutta tuo pikku-uutinen jäi huomaamatta.
Sääli, sillä lehti oli aika mielenkiintoinen.
Varsinkin se Suomi-juttu! Wink
