Sky sources understand Brian McDermott has been sacked by Leeds United after only nine months in charge.

The 52-year-old had been in charge at Elland Road since April 2013, at which point he signed a three-year contract.

Leeds are currently 12th in the Sky Bet Championship and are eight points off the play-off places.

The former Reading manager was in charge for just 36 games, 15 of which ended in wins, six as draws and 15 as losses.

Ross McCormack, who the club may lose before the end of the transfer deadline, said: “He called me up earlier and told me he was gone.

“It’s sad times at the club and I’m absolutely gutted.

“I had a really close relationship with the manager and I was looking forward to continuing to work with Leeds United and Brian McDermott.

“Things have changed a lot quicker than anyone could have imagined.

“I’m very happy and content at the club but a big part of that was Brian McDermott.

“I think Brian was a little bit surprised in terms of how quick it has happened but he always had an inkling it would happen.

“The new owners are coming in and want to take it in a different direction.”

On his own future, McCormack - the subject of interest from Premier League side Cardiff city - said: “At the moment it’s still very raw. There’s only three hours left.”

Muut ne yrittää vaan ostaa uusia pelaajia ennen kuin siirtoikkuna umpeutuu,mutta me annetaankin managerille potkut.Uskonpa että tää sardiini on vaatinut että kun hän ottaa seuran haltuunsa niin McDermotin täytyy olla muualla,jotta voi tuoda oman managerin mukanaan.Onko se sitten Festa tai joku muu niin luulenpa että joku italialainen kumminkin.Ei tällä ainakaan kannattajien suosiota saavuteta.

Nettisivuilla lukee edelleen 'Boss focused to the game'. Kohta peli ja kukaan ei taida tietää kuka seuraa nyt johtaa ja valmentaa. Varmasti erikoinen päivä Elland Roadilla.
