United Academy boss Andy Ritchie was delighted as Leeds put together a great team performance to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup, with a 4-2 win after extra time over Cambridge United.
A tight game throughout, Leeds broke the deadlock just after the half hour mark when Aaron Lennon put through Andy Keogh, who beat the keeper from close range.
Cambridge levelled the scores after 58 minutes when a deflected Turner shot beat Scott Carson.
Neither side could find a finish in the 90 minutes to prevent the game going into extra time. Cambridge scored first in the 101st minute, then Leeds equalised through a Sean McDaid header.
The Whites took regained their lead in the final half of extra time, Barry Corr with a volley inside the area. The game was put beyond any doubt when Chris Armstrong made it 4-2 to United and the threat of penalties subsided.
Leeds now look forward to a fifth round home tie against Blackburn Rovers.
Leeds: Scott Carson, Robert Constable, Sean McDaid, Henry McStay, Kevin Cronin, Martin Woods, Aaron Lennon (Justin Bowler 104), Chris Jones (Stewart Edwards 62), Barry Corr, Jamie Winter, Andy Keogh (Chris Armstrong 90).
Sivukommenttina sellaista, että keskikentän Aaron Lennonista kaiketi odotellaan seuraavaa Milneriä...
